Blogging Resources: Getting Started

I have used a number of 3rd party products and services in the development of this blog. The list below includes links to these resources, and a brief description of the products and services they provide.

Disclaimer: Please note that some of the links below are affiliate links and I receive compensation if you purchase through those links. I have used all of the products listed below and recommend them because they are extremely helpful and are companies that I trust.

Amazon.com is a one-stop shop for thousands of products, and certainly some that you use every day. They have a solid billing and payments system, with extremely rapid and reliable delivery. If you join their “Amazon Prime” program, you will get free shipping on most products, with expedited delivery. NOTE: SeasonalMuse is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com.

Bluehost is an affordable, and reliable, provider of web hosting and domain name registration services. This blog is hosted by Bluehost. NOTE: SeasonalMuse is a participant in the Bluehost Affiliate Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to bluehost.com.

Elegant Themes

WordPress provides the content management system for this blog, but the stylistic theme (presentation formatting and structure) is based on one of the many beautiful wordpress themes available from Elegant Themes.

Lynda.com

This site provides a huge menu of professional grade training covering all of the basic skills and technologies necessary to build a website or blog, and much more. It is available on a monthly subscription basis, at very modest cost. As a university lecturer, I recommend it to all my students, and I refer to it often for up to date information on new platforms and programs.

All of the photography on the SeasonalMuse is shot using a Fuji X100s digital camera. I love this camera for its retro design, beautiful image quality, and optical viewfinder which means you get to look through the lens (if you want to) instead of staring at a screen when shooting.  You can read an in-depth overview of all its features by visiting photographer Ken Rockwell’s site.

Eye-Fi provides a wireless connectivity card based on both the SD and micro-SD format that a large number of digital cameras use for image storage. The card provides for both local storage and the ability to connect directly to a local iPad, iPhone and other display devices wirelessly. This link will connect you directly to the version of the card that I use:  Eye-Fi Mobi Pro 16GB WiFi SDHC Card
